Man Accused of Gouging Out Uncle's Eyes to Be Retried

An unincorporated man who allegedly gouged out his uncle's eyes in a fight over a remote control will be retried in August after a mistrial in his case was declared Thursday.
A judge declared a mistrial in Exulam Holman's case after learning one of the jurors recognized a witness' nickname and discussed it with other jurors, according to a story by The Associated Press.
Holman, 33, is charged with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery of a person over age 60 in the attack on Melvin Clifford, 62, on New Year's Eve in the house the two shared. Holman also allegedly pushed him down a flight of stairs.
