Killer in 2009 Shooting Set to Serve Less Than 4 Years in Prison

The triggerman in a June 2009 killing was sentenced to 14 years, but with good time and time served will likely be out in less than four years.

A Joliet man took a 14 year prison sentence for a 2009 killing but will likely be free in less than four years.

Marcos Camargo, 30, had pleaded guilty in January to a charge of second-degree murder in exchange for the sentence.

While Judge Edward Burmila gave Camargo 14 years behind bars, with credit for the more than three years and three months he has already spent in the county jail and for day-for-day good time, Camargo could be paroled by November 2016.

Camargo was indicted on charges of first degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with a June 2009 killing in the St. Patrick neighborhood.

Just prior to the fatal shooting, 17-year-old Alfredo Aguirre and "several individuals" chased another man down an alley between Comstock and Illinois streets, a prosecutor said at the January hearing where Camargo pleaded guilty.

Camargo—who was not being chased—then shot Aguirre to death and also allegedly wounded a second man, 22-year-old Anthony Alexander of Plainfield. Alexander took a bullet to his foot.

Alexander is doing three years and three months in Danville Correctional Center for burglary, possession of cannabis and robbery. Prior to Camargo's plea, prosecutors were reportedly prepared to have Alexander shipped in from Danville to testify against Camargo.

Camargo declined to speak at his sentencing. Judge Burmila granted Camargo a contact visit with his father and sister before he is sent off to prison.

Someone needs a math class. 2009 - 2016 is 7 years. I know, I know, this author really reaches far when coming up with a title.
Next from Joe Hosey: "Killer in 1975 shooting set to serve less than 3 years." "The triggerman in a June 1975 killing was sentenced to 80 years, but with good time and time served will likely be out in less than three years." Joe, it's crap like this detracts readers and tarnishes the reputation of you, the patch, and the media as a whole. I'm not sure if you get paid by every click of your article, as that would explain your title, but maybe you should focus on substance rather than yellow journalism.

John, perhaps you should learn how to read. The article says he will serve 4 years in PRISON. He has been in county since his arrest. Literacy, a thing of the past.

Ah, forgive me. I guess I should have gone to college instead of a University.

You need to put the correct phone number. You have 8 numbers listed instead of 7.

Maybe some new manhole lids with rubber rings to stop all the flooding of peoples houses,AndRead More actually climb down in the manhole and see if it is leaking instead of paying all of these people in Joliet getting flooded out by YOUR SANITARY System. Some paint being scrapped off the City Hall Hand Rails that will cut ya up.
