Kids Attack Man, Steal His iPod and Wallet: Police

The suspects were apprehended thanks to a detailed description provided by the victim, Joliet police said.

Three kids, ages 12 and 14, attacked a man in front of Joliet Central High School Monday and stole his iPod Touch and wallet, according to Joliet police.

The 19-year-old man was walking in the 200 block of East Jefferson Street at about 1 p.m. when he was approached by three black juveniles, Capt. Tab Jensen said. One grabbed him from behind, while the other two punched him, threw him to the ground and began to hit and kick him before stealing his possessions and fleeing, Jensen said.

The victim called police and gave them a detailed description of his assailants, who were spotted in the 200 block of North Eastern Avenue, he said. The man was able to identify them as his attackers.

The boys -- two are 14 years old and one is 12 -- were taken into custody and charged with robbery, battery and obstructing a peace officer. They are being held in the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Joliet.
