Judges Unseals Hickory Street Murder Files

Although the records are now open, anyone involved in the case remains under a gag order that prevents them from speaking publicly or releasing new information.

A Will County judge has unsealed the files for four people accused of committing a horrific double-murder in Joliet in January.

Judge Gerald Kinney essentially reversed the ruling he'd made in March in an effort to prevent more information about the murders from being made public, according to a story published by the Chicago Sun-Times

The decision to seal the files came on the heels of several stories published by Patch that revealed sordid details about the case, including information about the suspects having sex on top of the two murder victims' bodies and discussion about keeping the victims' teeth as souvenirs of the crime.

The four suspects -- Alisa Massaro, Joshua Miner and Adam Landerman, all of Joliet, and Bethany McKee, of Shorewood -- were charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Eric Glover and Terrance Rankins, both 22 and of Joliet.  Police Chief Mike Trafton described the case as the most "heinous" thing he's seen in his law enforcement career.

The murders took place in Massaro's Hickory Street home, and while the defendants have offered varying accounts of what happened, it appears that one of the motivations in inviting the victims to the house was robbery. The two men were strangled, after which the suspects continued to party while the bodies remained in the home, police said.

Despite reopening the files, Kinney ruled that the gag order banning lawyers, police and other people involved in the case from speaking about it publicly or releasing new information still stands, the Sun-Times story said
