Joliet Teen Charged in Fatal Chicago Shooting

Tramian Barnes is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Alex Anderson.

An 18-year-old from Joliet is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 19-year-old in Chicago last month.

Tramian Barnes of the 400 block of May Street is accused in the Jan. 20 murder of Alex Anderson, who was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle Barnes was driving.

Police said Barnes was driving in the 4300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue at around 10:20 p.m. when he pulled out a handgun and shot Anderson in the abdomen and right arm.

According to police, Anderson was able to get out of the vehicle and run to Milwaukee and Cullom Avenue, where paramedics were called. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, but died of his injuries.

Chicago police said during the course of their investigation, Barnes was identified as the shooter. Although a warrant was issued for his arrest, Barnes fled the state, police said.

The teen was eventually located in Georgia and extradited back to Illinois.

Barnes was scheduled to appear in Central Bond Court on Wednesday.
