Joliet Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on Laraway Road

Police say Richard Johnson sustained serious head trauma in the accident and had already died by the time officers arrived.

A man was killed shortly after midnight Monday when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown into a median on Laraway Road near Illinois 53.

Richard Johnson, 53, 2906 Streitz Drive, was declared dead at the scene of the crash, Chief Michael Trafton said.

Johnson was traveling westbound on Laraway when he drove up onto a center median just east of the railroad tracks and was thrown from his motorcycle, Trafton said. He traveled more than 100 feet before striking another median, he said.
