Joliet Man Stabs Someone & Jumps in Creek: Cops

The stabber's jump into Spring Creek couldn't save him from the cops, police said.

A Joliet man wanted for stabbing someone in the hand tried to escape the law by jumping into a creek by his house, police said.

Abel Juarez-Ramos, 27, of 564 E. Clay St. was booked into the Will County jail on charges of aggravated battery and obstructing a police officer in connection with his alleged Saturday night antics.

Officers were sent to meet with a man who claimed Juarez-Ramos stabbed him in the hand Saturday night, police said.

The man reportedly told police he and Juarez-Ramos had problems earlier in the evening. Juarez-Ramos then appeared alongside his car and stabbed at him, getting him in the hand, police said.

The stabbed man was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. The police then called on Juarez-Ramos at his home.

After officers knocked on Juarez-Ramos' door, he made a run for it and jumped into Spring Creek, which runs behind his home, police said. Juarez-Ramos was then reportedly able to make it from the creek to the corner of Garnsey Avenue and Ohio Street where he was captured.

Juarez-Ramos remains in custody at the Will County jail.
