Joliet Man Scuffles With Cops, Taken to Hospital For Evaluation After Arrest: Police

The man's girlfriend said he may have been on PCP, as he had taken it in the past, police said.

Officers sent to investigate a report of a domestic altercation at a residence on Twin Oaks Drive found a disturbed man punching the walls, police said.

The man, Ricky Barefield, 33, of 126 Twin Oaks was charged with obstructing a police officer. He was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center for an evaluation.

The police reportedly got to Barefield place about 12:15 a.m. Monday. Barefield's girlfriend told officers she suspected he had "taken something, possibly PCP," since he had done that drug before, police said.

Barefield refused to listen to officers, police said, and eventually started fighting with them.
