Joliet Man Jailed For Gun Attack That Left 1 Woman Wounded: Cops

The man walked up to the woman while she was sitting on a Joliet Street porch and opened fire on her, police said.

A Joliet man was charged with shooting at and wounding a woman as she sat on a front porch last week.

Julius Byes, 21, of 200 Duncan St. was jailed on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm. The warrant for his arrest carries a $100,000 bond.

Byes walked up on Paris Crowder as she was sitting on a Joliet Street porch, put his hands in the air and then produced a handgun, police said.

Byes fired three or four shots but missed Crowder with all of them, police said. A bullet did apparently send debris flying which hit Crowder in the knee, police said.

Paramedics were called but Crowder refused to take a trip to the hospital, police said.
