Joliet Man Gets Hot Under Collar Over Walmart Fire Lane Parking Ticket: Cops

A parking ticket sent a man waiting outside Walmart into a profane fit, police said.

A man waiting in a car parked in the fire lane outside Walmart shouted profanities and tore away from the superstore when he got a ticket, police said.

Eric Cockream, 27, of 420 Kungs Way was charged with reckless conduct and reckless driving in connection with the 1 p.m. Saturday incident.

A Joliet police lieutenant ticketing vehicles parked in the fire lane reportedly wrote one for the car in which Cockream was sitting in the passenger seat.

Cockream shouted profanities at the lieutenant, police said. After the woman Cockream was waiting for came out of the Walmart—and the lieutenant placed a ticket on the car's windshield—Cockream moved over to the driver's seat and sped away, squealing his tires as he took off, police said.

Cockream got away from the cops but they apparently had enough information to figure out who he was and how to get a hold of him, police said. Officers reportedly made contact with Cockream and got him to come down to the west side substation, where he was hit with the criminal charges.

Cockream was released on his own recognizance.
