Joliet Man Clubs Car with Stick: Police

Victims said they'd never met man who ran into the street and damaged their car with a plastic stick, according to deputies.

A Joliet man did not provide police with a reason after he allegedly used a plastic stick to smash the back of a stranger's car early Sunday morning, Will County Sheriff's police said.

Brian W. Juhant, 34, of the 1600 block of Washington Street, is charged with felony criminal damage to property following the 1 a.m. incident at Washington and Davison streets, police said.

Will County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said a 23-year-old male driver and a female passenger told police they were driving through the intersection when a man they'd never seen before ran into the street and struck the car with a three-foot-long object.

A sheriff's deputy who responded to the report found Juhant walking near Washington and Briggs street, carrying a white plastic stick. Upon questioning, Juhant admitted to hitting the victims' vehicle with the stick, but he did not say why, Hoffmeyer said.

The rear driver's side of the car was damaged in the incident, police said.
