Joliet Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting Young Boy: Police

Joliet police conducted a five-month investigation before issuing an arrest warrant for Anthony Perez.

A Joliet man was arrested Thursday for raping and sexually molesting a boy under the age of 13, Joliet police said.

Anthony Samson Perez, 18, of 1717 Mystic Drive, was charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault stemming from incidents that occurred in May, Lt. Brian Dupuis said.

The victim alerted a parent in June, who brought the allegations to the police. A victim-sensitive interview was conducted with the child and an investigation carried out before an arrest warrant was issued for Perez.

Dupuis declined to provide more details about when and where the assaults occurred in order to protect the child's identity.

Perez is being held in the Will County jail pending a bond hearing.
