Lonnie Cates was charged with possession of cannabis and cocaine among other charges.

A Joliet man was arrested on drug possession charges following the raid of his home Wednesday night by the Will County Sheriff's Department Gang Suppression Unit, Deputy Chief Ken Kaupas said.

The raid occurred at about 9 p.m. at the 1436 Colorado home of Lonnie Ray Cates, 36, who was taken into custody and charged with possession of 10 to 30 grams of cannabis, possession of 15-plus grams of cocaine, possession of drug equipment, aggravated battery, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

Kaupas said deputies were acting on a tip that drug selling was occurring out of the house.
