Joliet Firefighters Search Burning House, Douse Suspicious Blaze

Police were reportedly at the house for a burglary investigation two days before.

Joliet firefighters doused an early Friday morning blaze at a Demmond Street house police had visited two days prior.

Firefighters were told a couple was possibly trapped inside the house on Demmond near Clark Street and entered the burning building to search for them.

No one was found and it was determined the one-story house was empty at the time of the fire.

Flames were billowing out the house's broken front window when firefighters arrived. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Joliet police were at the house about 1 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of a burglary, according to department records.
