Joliet Drunk Driver Smashes Into Parked Cars: Police

Police said Joshua Johnson crashed into several parked vehicles before his car came to a stop.

A Joliet man accused of driving under the influence of alcohol allegedly crashed into four vehicles parked along Hickory Street, stopping only when his car became too damaged to keep driving, police said.

Joshua Johnson, 24, of the 600 block of Hickory Street, was headed north on Hickory at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday when the series of crashes started, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

According to police, Johnson's 1997 Chrysler Concorde struck the back of a 2002 Saturn parked on Hickory, pushing the Saturn into the back of a parked Ford Explorer.

Roechner said Johnson continued north, sideswiping a GMC Yukon and a Toyota Tacoma, which were also parked on the street. Johnson's car was too badly damaged to keep driving after the it struck the Tacoma, according to Roechner.

Johnson was taken to the Will County jail on charges of aggravated DUI, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving with an expired license, improper traffic lane use and battery, according to jail records.
