Joliet Detective Named Exchange Club Police Officer of the Year

Detective Tizoc Landeros was named the Exchange Club of Joliet's Police Officer of the Year.

Joliet police Detective Tizoc Landeros was named the Exchange Club of Joliet's Police Officer of the Year.

Landeros is a 13-year veteran of the police department. In 2013 he was assigned to the department's investigations division as the sex offender/violent offender registration coordinator. He is responsible for tracking and documenting 180 offenders with several of the offenders reporting weekly and monthly. He is also the department's point of contact with the Will County State's Attorney's Office as the lead in child pornography cases generated by their office.

During 2013, Landeros initiated 12 failure to register violations, located the offenders and held them responsible for failing to make contact with the department. Landeros also was assigned 75 sex-related cases, mostly involving juveniles. He made 34 arrests in 2013.

Landeros was the lead investigator in a June execution-style homicide where two arrests were made as a result of his thorough investigation. He is fluent in Spanish and assisted in the investigation of 12 homicides in 2013.
