I-80 Semi Crash Leaves Two Hurt
Eastbound traffic was stopped for nearly an hour after the westbound truck crossed the median and collided with a passenger vehicle, police said.
Two people were injured after a semi truck driver lost control of his rig on westbound Interstate 80 and crossed into an eastbound lane of traffic, an Illinois State Police District 5 official said.
The accident occurred at about 10:40 a.m. Monday on the stretch of I-80 between U.S. 30 in New Lenox and Briggs Street in , Master Sgt. Martez Malone said.
The truck collided with a passenger car in which an adult and an infant were traveling, Malone said. Both were transported to Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox with non-life-threatening injuries, Malone said.

The names, ages and addresses of the victims and the truck driver were not available as of 1:50 p.m. Monday.
Malone said police are investigating what may have caused the truck driver to lose control, and he said he could not confirm a witness' account to New Lenox Patch that it appeared that one of the semi's tires may have blown out.

The accident caused the eastbound lanes of I-80 to be closed for at least an hour. One lane was reopened at about 12:15 p.m. and both were open as about 1:45 p.m.
