Housebreakers Hit Joliet Woman's Home While She Takes Bath

The woman locked herself in the bathroom and called the police on the men who had forced their way into her house.

Housebreakers terrorized a Joliet woman as she tried to take a bath Thursday.

The woman was in the tub about 5 p.m. when she heard a knock at the door of her Park Drive home. Soon after, the knocks turned to the sound of someone kicking the door in.

The woman locked herself in her bathroom and called the cops, police said.

The men must have heard her moving around as they fled before the law arrived, police said.

A television and stereo equipment were found stacked by the back door, the electronics apparently abandoned when the thieves ran off. The crooks did abscond with a laptop computer and $800 from the woman's purse.

Police believe the break-in was committed by at least two men.
