House 'Majorly Damaged' by Fire Tuesday Night, Chief Says

No one was home when the blaze broke out sometime before 6 p.m. at 3005 Frank Turk Drive.

Fire severely damaged a house on Joliet's far West Side Tuesday night, leaving a family of three homeless, Joliet Battalion Chief Laroy Aldridge said.

The Joliet Fire Department was alerted to the blaze at 3005 Frank Turk Drive shortly after 6 p.m., Aldridge said. The owners were not home at the time, he said.

Seventeen firefighters needed about two hours to get it under control, he said. The house was "majorly damaged," but there were no injuries, Aldridge said.

Investigators were on the scene and are trying to determine the cause of the fire, which appears to have started on the home's deck, he said.
