Joliet police confiscated 18 grams of heroin, weight scales and cash from a home officers raided Friday morning, Cmdr. Brian Benton said.
Members of the police department's narcotics unit executed a warrant at about 9:30 a.m. at 1516 Timberline Drive, Joliet, and arrested Joseph Michael Lucas, 31, on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug equipment, Benton said.
Street value for heroin is currently about $100 a gram, meaning the drugs confiscated had a street value of about $1,800, he said. Also confiscated from the house, located south of Theodore Street and west of Essington Road, were prescription pills, scales and $200.
Lucas is currently be held in the Will County jail. His bond hearing is set for Monday.
Lucas has been arrested several times previously, according to jail records. He was charged with felony domestic battery in July 2011, misdemeanor domestic battery in January 2010 and misdemeanor domestic battery in April 2008.
