Update: The charge pending against Eric Villarreal has been dismissed, according to Will County Assistant Public Defender Kristen Wyss.
Original story:
A Joliet man who hit, choked and kicked his girlfriend because she would not share her prescription pain medication with him has been arrested for aggravated domestic battery, Joliet police said.
Eric Villarreal, 26, 2552 E. Clark, Diamond, was taken into custody shortly after his girlfriend reported his alleged abuse, Cmdr. Rich Demick said.
The woman said Villarreal, with whom she has a child, came to her home in the 6200 block of Brunswick early Wednesday morning and started a fight in which he accused her of having sex with a female friend, Demick said.
He eventually went to bed, but awoke Wednesday to start fighting with her again, she told police. The situation became violent when the girlfriend refused to give him her hydrocodone pills, Demick said.
After he beat her, he fled the house and the woman called police, he said. The girlfriend gave officers an address for a house where she thought Villarreal might go, and they were able to arrest him up there, he said.
The woman did not need medical treatment, but police did take photos of her injuries as evidence, Demick said.
Villarreal is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $7,500 bond.
