Ex-Con Threatened Aunt With Steak Knife: Cops

The Joliet man gets violent when he drinks and does drugs, his aunt reportedly told the police.

An ex-con free from prison for the better part of a year was jailed for allegedly menacing his aunt with a steak knife.

Kevin Roman, 24, of 405 Dixon St. was charged with aggravated assault in connection with the 8:30 p.m. Saturday incident at his home.

Roman's aunt reportedly called the law after Roman brandished a steak knife and waved it around. Officers spoke to the woman about the incident and she told them "when her nephew starts drinking and doing drugs he gets violent," police said.

Roman fled the residence when his aunt called the cops, police said. Officers caught up with him not far away near the corner of Buell and Whitney avenues.

Roman was also hit with a warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections for allegedly violating his parole.
