Dunkin' Donuts Burglar Makes Off with Cash

The suspect is believed to have broken the drive-through window to see if it would trigger an alarm before going into the store, Joliet police said.

Joliet police are hoping surveillance video might help them track down the burglar who broke into the Dunkin' Donuts on Houbolt Road early this morning, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

The suspect is believed to have broken the drive-through window shortly before midnight and then returned a few hours later to use it to enter the 1350 Houbolt Road store, Roechner said. Burglars sometimes do that to determine if it will trigger an alarm system, he said.

The suspect went through two cash drawers, taking $100, and exited the store via rear door, Roechner said. Opening that door caused an alarm to go off, and brought police to the scene, he said.
