Update/2:30 p.m. Monday:

Michael Anderson was found today by the Will County Sheriff's Office at Brandon and Patterson roads, Cornerstone Services reports.

He is in good condition, but was taken to the hospital to be examined as a precaution.

Original post: 10:30 a.m. Sunday:

Cornerstone Services is seeking the public's help in finding a mentally disabled man who was last seen at 3 p.m. Thursday in downtown Joliet.
Michael Anderson, 56, is a slim-built African-American who stands about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a bright blue T-shirt, dark blue jeans and black-rim glasses on a cord.

He has health issues that require medication, which he has not been receiving since he's been missing, Cornerstone officials said.

Anderson works for Cornerstone during the day at its 134 E. Van Buren facility and lives at an Easter Seals group home at 811 Glenwood, Joliet police said in a bulletin on the missing man. He has an interest in trains and Chicago, and it's possible he took a Metra train to the city.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Joliet police at 815-724-3100, Easter Seals at 815-274-5412, Cornerstone at 815-545-8251 or the police department in your town.

This is unacceptable. His caretaker should be prosecuted and fired.

Spread the word to end the word! The "r" word is not a socially accepted word any more! It's hate speech and puts down an entire group of people! Jimbob11, not sure how old you are, but we don't "confine" individuals with disabilities anymore. Michael is a person like you and I, and has every right to a life in the community. individuals with disabilities may need some assistance, there are many levels of mental impairment and different levels of support. Me is absolutely right, the care taker should be fired! These organizations like Cornerstone hire people to keep individuals with disabilities safe, and obviously this person was not doing their job. It's time to look at how we train and what we pay these individuals hired to care for the intellectually disabled! When you pay minimum wage you get minimum wage workers. If you look at want ads for agencies looking to hire care takers for disabled individuals all you need is a high school diploma and a clean driving record. As a mother to a child with disabilities I notice when group homes and agencies are in the community, a majority of the workers are on their cell phone chit chatting away and not paying attention to the client. Most of them lack behavioral training and can't handle difficult situations that sometimes arise when working with individuals with disabilities. I hope Michael is safe and found, I hope Cornerstone looks hard at their employees charged with care taking, and I hope Illinois gets its act together and starts looking at how we care for our citizens that need more. Agencies like Cornerstone rely on money from the state and if they don't heave the funds they can't hire the appropriate amount of workers or pay for quality workers!

When I was 19 I worked for trinity services in a group home of disabled men. I was given no training and was left responsible overnights taking care of 5 men in a home and getting them ready every morning.

MICHAEL HAS BEEN FOUND Good news! Michael Anderson was found by authorities in the Joliet area. They say he is doing fine! Michael reportedly told them that he just wanted to go for a walk. We wish to extend a huge thank you to all of you who followed our postings, who shared them, and who offered information. Big thanks to the volunteers who canvassed the community the past few days. Thanks of course to the Joliet Police for all their time and effort. There are more people to thank, for sure, and we will not forget to mention you in a follow up post, but for now we just wanted to get the word out.
