Cops Seeking Suspect in Labor Day Shooting Case

Joliet police have issued an arrest warrant for Dominique Travis on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

Joliet police have issued an arrest warrant for Dominique Travis, the suspect believed responsible for shooting a man on North Broadway Street on Labor Day.

Travis, 20, of 810 Gage St., Joliet, is being sought on sought on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with incident, according to a story in the Joliet Herald News.


The victim was sitting on a concrete wall at 225 N. Broadway St. at about 11:25 a.m. when he saw a man walk by, Capt. Tab Jensen told Joliet Patch Tuesday. A short time later, the suspect returned, pulled a gun from his waistband and began shooting, striking the man in the leg, Jensen said.

According to jail records, Travis was arrested on charges of aggravated battery in March 2013, possession of 30 to 500 grams of cannabis in April 2012 and aggravated battery and mob action in May 2011. He's currently on parole after being sentenced to a year in prison in the cannabis case.
