Cops: Gunman Nabbed in Crow's Nest Shooting

The police say they apprehended one gunman in connection with Tuesday's tavern shooting and expect many more arrests in the near future.

The cops caught one of the gunmen from a gang shootout in a Center Street tavern that left two men injured, said.

Joliet Police Chief Mike Trafton said officers are still searching for another triggerman from the early Tuesday gunfight at the Crow's Nest bar and that detectives are obtaining numerous other warrants in connection with the chaotic battle.

"This investigation is far from complete," Trafton said. "We're not going to tolerate any of this and we're going to charge everyone involved."

Jose Reyes, 31, of 1624 E. Washington St. was captured as he tried to slip out his back door and make a break for it after the cops showed up at his home Thursday night, Trafton said. Officers ran Reyes down and took him inot custody.

Reyes was booked into the Will County jail on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm by a street gang member, resisting or obstructing a police officer, and aggravated battery.

Officers are now on the hunt for 20-year-old Reginald Rogers, who just got out of prison in August after doing time on weapons charges.

Reyes and Rogers are members of the same street gang, Trafton said, and were battling it out with another gang at the Crow's Nest.

Prior to the shooting, the two factions squabbled, Trafton said, the dispute escalated to the point both sides were throwing chairs and ultimately led to guns going off.

The shooting started inside the bar and continued outside with numerous bullets fired by both sides, the chief said.

Rogers is still on parole. The warrant for his arrest carries a $500,000 bond and charges him with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, unlawful use of a weapon by a street gang member and aggravated discharge of a firearm. He was also charged with violating his parole.
