Cable Co. Ladders in Road Jostled Motorcycle Man: Lawsuit

A man sued a Naperville cable company for allegedly letting ladders fall off a truck and into his way while he was riding his motorcycle.

A man claims he was injured when he drove his motorcycle over industrial ladders that came loose from a cable company truck.

The man, Fred Lorenzatti of Beecher, filed the lawsuit in Will County court against Naperville's Kraus cable company.

Lorenzatti said he was riding his motorcycle south of Joliet on Route 53 in August 2011 when a Kraus truck heading east on International Way stopped abruptly at the intersection.

The sudden stop caused "two industrial ladders to fly off the roof of the commercial truck and land across both lanes of the intersection," blocking Lorenzatti's motorcycle, the lawsuit said.

With nowhere else to go, Lorenzatti drove his motorcycle over the ladders, the lawsuit said, "causing him to be thrown into the air before bouncing back down upon ... the road landing on his motorcycle."

This not only damaged the motorcycle's windshield, fender and cross plate, but also left Lorenzatti with "severe whiplash, a cervical sprain, strained neck lumbar, lower back strain, cuts and bruises and pain and suffering," the suit said.
