Angry Man Choked Pregnant Girlfriend, Joliet Police Say

Marcus Alexander was reportedly upset because his girlfriend spent the day at her mother's house, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

A Joliet man who choked his 7½-months pregnant girlfriend because he was mad she spent the day at her mother's house was arrested Tuesday night, Joliet police said.

Marcus T. Alexander, 29, of 413 Oneida St., allegedly got into a physical fight with the woman when she returned to her 426 E. Jackson St. home, Cmdr. Al Roechner said. The victim was able to break away from Alexander and texted a friend to call the police, he said.


Officers took Alexander into custody at the woman's home at about 8:30 p.m. and charged him with aggravated domestic battery. He is being held in the Will County jail.

According to county records, Alexander has been arrested several times since 1999 on charges that include aggravated battery, domestic battery, possession of a controlled substance, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, aggravated discharge of a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm by a felon.
