Five Joliet men took Channahon police on a high-speed chase that ended with their arrest in Joliet on drug possession charges, Channahon Police Det. Adam Bogart said.

Officers spotted the suspects' vehicle speeding in the area of Manor Lane and Route 6 at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and tried to pull it over, Bogart said. Instead, one of the passengers threw something from the window and the vehicle kept going, he said.

They pulled over briefly at Route 6 and Houbolt Road and then finally stopped near Hollywood Casino, Bogart said.

All five men were charged with possession of a controlled substance. They are John M. Adams Jr., 25, 1136 Cathy; Ivan C. Moffett, 18, 104 5th Ave.; Jevonte D. Moffett, 28, 1302 Elizabeth; Jeremy Moffett, 27, 505 Florence; and Jarrell M. Luckey, 27, 2101 Belmont.

Adams was also charged with fleeing/attempting to elude police, speeding 31 to 39 mph over the limit, improper traffic lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Jeremy Moffett was also charged with obstruction of identification for providing police with a false name.

All five men were taken to the Will County jail but only Adams and Jeremy Moffett remain in custody. Bond information was not available.
