Ruby G. Luckett

Ruby Gaye Luckett was born October 23, 1955, in Louin, Mississippi., to Jim and Irean (nee Ellis) Sims. Ruby departed this life on Sunday, July 21, 2013.

She attended elementary school in Louin, Miss., and graduated from Joliet Central High School in 1975.

Ruby accepted Christ at an early age at Warren Hill Methodist Church in Louin, Miss. She moved to Joliet, IL, and united with St. Mark C.M.E. Church. She was united in holy matrimony to Raymond Luckett, and God blessed this union with four children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Irean Sims; two children, Raymond and Robert Luckett; seven brothers, Permilious, Lonnie, Edwin T., JW, Quitman, Alex, and Howard Sims; two sisters, Lucy Jenkins and Jimmie Neal Hardaway.

Ruby leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Felisha (Eugene) Luckett of Joliet, IL; and son, James (Ammie) Luckett of Battle Creek, MI; one sister, Ester Hill, and one brother, Luther Ray Sims, both of Joliet, IL; seven grandchildren, Tyler James, Amir, Jamia and Micah Luckett, Janay’a Starks, Aamia Lawson and Devoine Newton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Mark C.M.E. Church, 348 S. Joliet Street, Joliet, IL, Rev. Stephen D. Deloney, Pastor.  Service at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Thomas Hardaway, officiating.  Interment following at Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates, Lemont, IL.
