Margaret Avent

Margaret was born February 16, 1932, to Eva Frazier and C.B. Harris. She went home to be with her God on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.

She was a loving and caring person, who was affectionately called mom or mama by everyone who knew her.

Margaret met and married Clifton Avent in 1949 and to this union, nine children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Timothy Avent; stepson, Huri Avent; five brothers and one sister.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her life partner, L.B. House; two sons, Garland (Pamela) Avent, James (Debbie) Harris of Joliet, IL; six daughters, Betty Bobo, Linda Townsend, Paula (Eugene) Lucky, all of Joliet, IL, Eva Caldwell, Racine, WI, Rosie Avent, Crown Point, IN and Wanda Avent, Milwaukee, WI; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five sisters, Hazel Harris, Pauline Jackson, Lula Harris and Jessie Mix, all of Memphis, TN, and Lola Weston of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 25, 2013, from noon to 1:00 PM at Mars Hill C.O.G.I.C., 1599 California Ave., Joliet, IL. Service at 1:00 PM, Elder Earnest Caldwell, officiating. Interment following at Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates, Lemont, IL.
