Lakesha V. “Kesha” Dantzler

Age 37, died suddenly, Sunday, January 5, 2014. Born August 3, 1976, she attended Joliet Central High School, class of 1994. 

Kesha was employed at Sam’s Club as a customer service clerk for seven years. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a former member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her aunts and uncle, Carolyn (Robert) Person and Rita Ann Hughes, and cousins Shawn Dantzler and Thomas Hughes.

She is survived by her loving family, including children Shakell Phillip, Toriana and Torrey Lymas; mother Valencia Johnson; father Kirk Hare; sisters Kenya, LaToya and Karshena Dantzler, all of Joliet, IL; brother Antoine Hare of Joliet, IL; nieces Addyson Vidales and Atlanta Hare, both of Joliet, IL; nephews Jaiden Lee, Antwon and Abrey Robinson and Antoine Hare Jr., all of Joliet, IL; maternal grandmother Ida Dantzler, of Joliet, IL; paternal grandmother Lebertha Hughes of Joliet, IL; beloved companion Joe Page of Joliet, IL; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins.

Friends also survive, including "special cousin” Andrew Tate III, of Jacksonville, FL; “Special Nana” and family friend, Pearlie Adams (Willie, deceased) of  Joliet, IL; close friends Angela “Nan” Edwards, Latoya Cousin, Robin Calvert, Angela and Garcia Nobles; her beautician Robyn Booker; and Vincent Moffett. 

“Kesha” was fondly considered as “mom” to many of her son Shakell’s friends.

Visitation is Monday, January 13, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Minor-Morris Funeral Home, 112 Richards St., Joliet, and additional visitation Monday, January 13, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church, 18101 Oak Ave., Lockport, IL. Service at 7:00 PM, Pastor Clint Wilburn officiating and Rev. Cedric Burkett giving the eulogy. Interment Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
