James Hollins Sr. Obituary

A service will be held Friday at Ridgewood Baptist Church in Joliet.

James Henry Hollins Sr.

Age 85, born in Pinola, MS, to William and Naomi Hollins on August 15, 1928. He passed into eternal life on Sunday, January 5, 2014, with his family by his side. 

James was a retired Marine who served his country for 23 years. He fought in two wars and received numerous medals and accolades.

James also retired from EJ&E Railroad, where he was a marketing analysist for many years. Once retired from EJ&E, he established Hollins Tax & Accounting, which he operated for 33 years in the Joliet area. When he partnered with Mitcheleana Meade, Hollins & Meade Accounting was born. James retired in 2004.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Credle Hollins; sons Johnnie Smith of Jackson, MS, and James Albert Heath of Kansas City, KS; and grandson Malcolm Kent Tramel of Joliet, IL.

James is survived by three children, Jackie (Skip) Lee, Debra (Errie) Perrie and James H. Hollins Jr.; five sisters and two brothers, all from New Orleans and Georgia; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Ridgewood Baptist Church, 1968 Hillcrest Road, Joliet, IL. Service at 11:00 AM, Pastor David Jaspers officiating. Interment Monday, January 20, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.
