Joliet Central Band Excels in Washington Competition

Students in the Joliet Central High School Combined Concert Band travelled to Washington, D.C. and Virginia over Spring Break to participate in the Dixie Classic Festival in Richmond, Virginia. The festival included bands from Virginia, Georgia, Connecticut, Wisconsin and Illinois. Joliet Central received a Superior Rating for their performance.  They also received the Honor Award for having the highest scores of all the bands in the festival; the Judges Awards for Outstanding Brass Section; and the Outstanding Woodwind Section.  They were also awarded possession of the Festival Banner, an exceptional honor.

“The trip was absolutely perfect. The students who went on the trip represented Joliet Central in an exemplary manner and we received compliments about them at every location. Their performance in the Dixie Classic Festival was outstanding,” said JCHS Band Director Mike Fiske.
