March Primary: Voter Registration Deadline, Early Voting Coming Soon

The March 18 primary is just around the corner — in fact, you only have two more weeks to register to vote.


Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots is reminding residents that voter registration ends Feb. 18, and early voting starts soon.

Voters should also be aware of their voting options:
  • Request a ballot be mailed to you by simply calling the Will County Clerk’s Office at (815) 740-4632 or visiting www.thewillcountyclerk.com
  • In-office voting will be begin Feb. 6 at the clerk's office, 302 N. Chicago St., Joliet.  
  • Vote early at various locations (depending where you live) beginning March 3. 
If you're haven't registered yet, you can do so at the clerk's office weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the office will stay open until 6 p.m. on the Feb. 18 deadline day. The office will be closed for Abraham Lincoln's birthday on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and for President's Day on Monday, Feb. 17.

Two forms of ID are necessary to register to vote, and one must show your current name and address. The second form can show name only. The State of Illinois does not require voters to declare a party affiliation to register.

Voters who were previously registered to vote in Will County are not required to register for each election unless they have changed their name or address. Anyone who is unsure about the status of their registration can visit www.thewillcountyclerk.com and click on Voter Lookup under the What’s New section to verify, or call (815) 740-4620. 

If you have moved within Will County, complete the back portion of your voter’s card and return it to the clerk's office or email your Change of Address to voterregistration@willcountyillinois.com.
