Quinn Meets with Striking Joliet Cat Workers

In addition to moral support on the picket line, the Illinois governor also donated $10,000 to their cause.

Gov. Pat Quinn visited the Joliet picket line set up by striking Caterpillar machinists Friday, offering his support and donating $10,000 to their cause.

“You’re the best,” Quinn told strikers, according to a story in the Joliet Herald-News.

“Cat used to tell us we’re the best,” one called back.

Despite the support, Quinn did not comment on questions about whether he would get personally involved in the dispute, the paper said.

IT wasn't to many years ago that Cat was facing stiff competition from Japan ,China Korea in the heavy machinery market. Many of the local 150 operators would not operate this foriegn equipment and many of the construction companys in Illinois purchased Cat equipment for this reason. Maybe it is time to reverse this policy . There is no doubt this is a union busting plan that Cat is using and some of the other unions need to put some presure on Cat. The general public does'nt purchase Cat products so the people who do need to step up to the plate and consider buying from a union friendly company.
