Job Cuts Coming to Joliet Businesses

State report shows nearly 200 jobs will be cut at Joliet facilities next month.

Four companies in Illinois will eliminate 313 full-time jobs in the next few months — including nearly 200 jobs in Joliet, according to the May Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) state report.

Crain's Chicago Business reports that Randstad Inhouse Services L.P., a worldwide employment and recruiting agency, will lay off 125 workers in its Joliet office next month. The workers were reportedly notified in May.

A Joliet warehouse for Menlo Worldwide Logistics will lay off 72 full-time workers and 125 temporary works starting in July.

According to Crain's, s spokesman for Menlo said the cuts are due to the expiration of a contract with a client that has since decided to move its business elsewhere. The facility will close in January 2015.

Other cuts will come in Cook county, where Nestle USA lay off 66 workers from a frozen pizza plant in Northbrook as it moves the unit to Ohio. Shure Inc. in Niles is also planning 50 layoffs, Crain's reported.
