Friends Look to Launch Mobile Hot Dog Stand in Joliet

Commuters and visitors downtown could soon have a new dining option.

A mobile hot dog stand could soon come to downtown Joliet.

Nick Ramsey, a Joliet resident, and friend Joshua Smith of Plainfield are looking to open DiceDogs, a mobile restaurant serving Chicago-style hot dogs.

Ramsey said he's working on securing permits for the business and getting a food sanitation license in time to open the restaurant-on-wheels by St. Patrick's Day, March 17.

Plans call for the hot dog stand to make appearances near the Will County Courthouse and Harrah's Casino. Ramsey said fans can find location updates on the business' Facebook page.

"We're working on the location," Ramsey said, but noted he's done market research showing downtown Joliet is perfect for such a venture.

Initially, the menu will feature Chicago-style 'dogs, but Ramsey said he hopes to expand the offerings as time goes on.

"It's exciting," he said. "I'm just excited about the possibilities."
