Fashion Bug Clothing Store Soon to Close

The chain of plus-size womens retail shops was purchased by a company that announced in June that it would close all of the stores by 2013.

The Fashion Bug clothing store in Joliet, part of the Lane Bryant chain, will shut its doors once its inventory is sold out, a store employee said Thursday.

The low-priced women's clothing retailer, specializing in plus-size styles, is located at 1441 N. Larkin Ave.

Although the chain was purchased this past summer by the Ascena Retail Group Inc., the Joliet store managed to survive the first round of closings. However, Ascena owners had made it clear that they intended to close all Fashion Bugs by 2013, according to a story in Bloomberg Businessweek.

Fashion Bug is part of Charming Shoppes Inc., which also includes Lane Bryant and Catherines Plus Size, both of which cater to the plus-size market. Ascena also owns Dressbarn, Maurices and the Justice chain, which aimed at young girls ages 7 to 14.

The Catherines Plus Size store located in the same Joliet strip mall as Fashion Bug and the Maurices store at 359 S. Weber Road in Romeoville are not affected by the elimination of the Fashion Bug chain.

There is no announced final date for the Joliet Fashion Bug store, other than it will be determined by how quickly reduced-priced merchandise sells, the employee said.

You should be able to use it at any Fashion Bug store that's still open, assuming you can find one. Most were supposed to close in early 2013. You might also contact Catherine's and Lane Bryant, which are part of the same chain, to find out if they will honor it or if you have any other options.

You need to put the correct phone number. You have 8 numbers listed instead of 7.

Maybe some new manhole lids with rubber rings to stop all the flooding of peoples houses,AndRead More actually climb down in the manhole and see if it is leaking instead of paying all of these people in Joliet getting flooded out by YOUR SANITARY System. Some paint being scrapped off the City Hall Hand Rails that will cut ya up.
