'Moulin Rouge-The Ballet' to Be Staged at Joliet's Rialto

Tickets go on sale Friday for "Moulin Rouge-The Ballet," which will be performed by Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet March 2 at the Rialto Square Theatre. Here's a news release about the performance:

Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet presents its stunning creation "Moulin Rouge ® - The Ballet," the most famous Parisian cabaret, known throughout the world thanks to its saucy French Cancan immortalized by the painter Toulouse-Lautrec.

"Moulin Rouge ® - The Ballet" has provided spectators the world round with sumptuous shows, full of feathers, rhinestones and sequins, fabulous settings, original music and…the most beautiful girls in the world! A formula which never goes out of style.

Performed by Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, it will be presented at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet on Sunday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale Friday, January 24th at 9am! Tickets are priced between $36-$66 per person (additional fees may apply).

Tickets may be purchased at the Rialto Box office located at 102 N. Chicago Street, or ordered by calling 815-726-6600 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. On performance days the box office remains open until the completion of intermission.

Through the artistry of the dancers of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, celebrated choreographer Jorden Morris, whose other works include Peter Pan and The Doorway: Scenes from Leonard Cohen, takes audiences into an alluring recreation of the Pigalle district in turn of the century Paris.

Since Moulin Rouge – The Ballet’s sold out run of World Premiere shows in Winnipeg in 2009, "Moulin Rouge ® - The Ballet" has been applauded by over 110,000 people in more than 35 cities across North America and due to its popularity, Morris was invited to restage the production on Atlanta Ballet and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.

The ballet’s striking costumes were designed by Anne Armit and Shannon Lovelace, and the extravagant Parisian scenes were created by Andrew Beck. The work of dramaturge Rick Skene and the expert lighting designer Pierre Lavoie allows audiences to immerse themselves in truly breathtaking dance.
