Illinois Philharmonic Giving Free Performance at Rialto

The Sept. 19 event will serve as an introduction to the concert series being presented by the orchestra, tickets for which go on sale that night.

The Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet is holding an open house and free mini-performance of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 19.

Featured performers David Danzmayr, the orchestra's music director, and principal clarinetist Trevor O’Riordan will present music by Stravinsky, Chopin and Paquito D’Rivera. Following the performance, Danzmayr and IPO Executive Director Andrew Bradford will hold a casual conversation with the audience on the IPO’s new series at the Rialto and answer music-related questions.

Refreshments will be served following the event and audience members will have a chance to meet Danzmayr.

“This is an opportunity for the community to hear a sampling of fantastic music from the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra,” Randy Green, Rialto Square Theatre general manager, said in a news release on the event.

“We are excited about the partnership we have formed with IPO and that we are able to bring their musical style to the Joliet area. What I learned after conducting our cultural agenda town hall meeting is this is a form of music people asked for and that they want to see it here rather than driving to Chicago.”
