Hopstring Fest Returning with Bigger Lineup, More Food

Tickets are on sale for the second-annual live music festival being held Saturday in downtown Joliet.

The Hopstring Festival name says everything you need to know about the annual music event in downtown Joliet -- it has hops, aka beer; strings, aka live music; and 12 hours of entertainment and food.

This year, the event will be held from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday -- about a month earlier than last year -- at the Joliet Slammer's Silver Cross Field. It features 16 bands on two stages.

Organizers are Mike and Kathy Trizna, who own Chicago Street Pub in downtown Joliet. Last year's inaugural event drew 1,800 people, Mike Trizna said.

"Hopstring Fest is a celebration of roots rock music and craft beer," he said. "We combine this with local food, vendors and organizations to have what we believe is the first independently run local music festival in Will County."

The beer sponsors include Two Brothers, Lagunitas, Summit, Argus and Pabst Blue Ribbon. There will also be wine from Cooper's Hawk Winery, lemonade sold by Absolut Vodka and ginger ale sold by Jameson Irish Whiskey, all of whom are also sponsors.
