Worker Injured When Driver Crashes Into Furniture Store: Lawsuit

A furniture store worker claims he was injured when a car crashed into the business.

A furniture store worker was injured when he leaped out of the way of a car that crashed into the Joliet business, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

The suit filed on behalf of Mazen Arafat named both the alleged driver, Richard Moreno, and a man identified as the owner of the vehicle, Jaime-Mult Martinez, as defendants.

Arafat was working at Value City Furniture on Mall Loop Drive in June 2013 when Moreno crashed into the store, the lawsuit said.

Arafat had "to jump out of the way to avoid getting struck by the vehicle" and was injured doing so, the suit said.

There is no criminal on file with the Will County Circuit Clerk charging Moreno with crashing into the store.
