Woman Severely Injured in Tanning Bed Mishap: Lawsuit

The tanning bed "broke" at Knockout Tan while the woman was using it, the lawsuit said.

A woman suffered "severe and permanent injuries" two years ago at a Joliet salon when a tanning bed "broke" while she was using it, according to a lawsuit recently filed in Will County court.

The woman, Diana Demarco, is suing the owners of Knockout Tan for the grievous injuries she supposedly suffered two years ago.

The lawsuit fails to specify how the tanning bed allegedly malfunctioned or how it supposedly hurt Demarco, but does blame Knockout Tan and claims Demarco suffered "both internally and externally."

Clarification: Knockout Tan on Houbolt Road was sold in January of 2014 to new owners, who have since renamed the salon Tiptoe Tan. The new owners are not the ones being sued in this case. A photo originally published with this article  showed the new tanning salon, and Patch removed that photo.
