Saw It on eBay: Vintage Beer Tavern T-Shirt

The Indian's Reservation Tavern used to be at 1008 N. Hickory St. in Joliet, and a T-shirt that still remains is being auctioned on eBay this week.

The tavern known as "The Indian's Reservation" once filled the building that still exists at 1008 N. Hickory St. One of those old neighborhood watering holes, it liked to advertise that it offered "Fun, Food and Firewater."

How long has it been gone? Who knows, but what remains -- a T-shirt being sold on eBay -- is a bit of nostalgia that's probably charming only because it harkens back to a less politically correct time.

The front of the blue shirt carries the message, "Where the hell is the Indian's Reservation." On the back is the tavern's name, address, area code-free phone number and a cluster of teepees.

Here's what the seller had to say about the item he/she is auctioning with a starting bid of $19 (with $5.50 for shipping): "THIS SHIRT WOULD BE FOR SOMEONE SMALLER, IT 23 IN. FROM THE TOP OF THE COLLAR TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SHIRT, ITS 15 INCHES ACROSS THE BOTTOM. THERE IS A TINY PIN HOLE IN THE LOWER CENTER OF THE FRONT."

Bidding ends at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday. Click here for more information.
