Saw It on eBay: Pipe-and-Pouch Planter from Joliet Florist
The Plainfield seller is asking $21 for this 'Vintage Rubens Original' but is open to offers, according to their listing.
This is a crazy-looking item that, it turns out, is actually a planter that was sold by a Joliet florist and is now available for purchase on eBay.
The Plainfield-based seller is asking $21 but is open to offers. He/she is also asking $8.95 for shipping but we imagine you might be able to pick it up for free given its location.
Here's what they had to say about it:
"'Vintage Rubens Original' antique pipe and tobacco pouch planter. It looks to have been first sold at a florist in Joliet Il. Bries florist and green house is still in business as it turns out. ... Little bit of crazing from age. Looks awesome. No cracks or repairs that I can see."
Although Briese Florist can be found online as being located at 1200 Wilcox, it's not in the phone book and it's not clear that it's still open. The number listed online is not associated with the business. Owner Paul Briese died in August 2012.
