Joliet Library Hosts Prom Fashion Show

Teens invited to attend March 22 event.

Watch local high school students hit the runway in donated prom dresses at the Joliet Public Library’s Prom Fashion Show.  

The popular teen program returns to the Black Road Branch from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 22 from 6-7 pm.  Teenagers in sixth grade and up are welcome to attend; no registration is required.  

Teens who are interested in modeling at this year’s show can contact Andrea at asowers@jolietlibrary.org or calling 815-740-2660.

This is the fifth year JPL has held the Prom Fashion Show in partnership with Guardian Angel Community Services (GACS). 

Local high school students who attend a two-hour dating course with GACS receive a free dress. Contact Chrissy at 815-729-0930, x524, or csenior@gacsprograms.org  to sign up for the class.

Guardian Angel Community Services is seeking donations of new or gently used prom dresses (current styles please, sizes 16 and up especially needed). To make a donation, 815-729-0930 during business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm).

Teen Librarian Andrea Sowers was recognized for this program at the 2013 American Library Association Annual Conference for providing “Excellence in Library Services to Young Adults.”  The Prom Fashion placed in the top five of 25 innovative teen programs.
