Couple Who Lost Toddler to July 4 Drowning Asks for Help Finding Engagement Ring

After the tragic loss of their little girl, a Joliet couple suffered another blow this week.

Two-year-old Brooke Cast died in a tragic accident, drowning during a Fourth of July party, police said.

On Monday, friends of Brooke's parents, Eric Cast and Crystal Meyers said the couple is reeling again after Crystal lost her engagement ring.

A friend of the couple told Patch the ring was lost Monday afternoon at the Louis Joliet Mall. 

"I don't think things could get any worse," Cast wrote in a message to friends. "Today Crystal lost her wedding ring at the mall."

The couple is asking friends to share photos of the ring via social media in the hopes that whoever found it comes forward.

A GoFundMe account has also been set up to help the couple with medical and funeral expenses related to their daughter's death.
