Joliet Woman to Vie for Miss Black Illinois USA Title

Corey Sallie, chosen Miss Black Will County this summer, will compete Oct. 19 for a chance to represent Illinois and go on to the Miss Black USA pageant.

A Joliet woman will compete in the Miss Black Illinois USA Scholarship Pageant representing Will County.

Corey Sallie, 20, won the title of Miss Black Will County earlier this year, and is set to compete in the state pageant being held Oct. 19 at the Harold Washington Cultural Center in Chicago, according to a news release.

Sallie, a 2011 graduate of Joliet Central High School, is studying fashion design online through the Academy Of Art University.

During her reign as Miss Black Will County, Sallie said she will promote a platform of "Researching A Cure For Epilepsy."
