Reed School Holding Metal, Electronics Recycling Event

Charles Reed Elementary School will host a free community-wide metal and electronics recycling event in conjunction with its annual craft fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the school, 2110 Clublands Parkway.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the PTA’s “Green Team” programs. Donors will be able to leave their items in designated trailers. The Charles Reed PTA will get the current market rate for aluminum cans and a flat rate for all other items that are dropped off.

Donors can bring anything with an electrical plug, including: computers; monitors (LCD and CRT); servers; firewalls; switches; routers; server racks; laptops/tablets; cords and wire; batteries of all types; keyboards; mice; all other computer input devices; printers (laser and ink jet); scanners; fax machines;

More acceptable items include: projectors; speakers; phones; televisions; small appliances such as coffee makers, toasters and microwave ovens; projector bulbs; ballasts; aluminum cans; aluminum siding; litho plates; vehicle rims; radiators; catalytic converters; wheel weights; car batteries; anything made of lead or stainless steel; nickel; all metal alloys; metal hangers; cable; house wire; phone wire; computer cables; cast iron; ductile iron; appliances.
